Zero Waste

A waste management philosophy known as "Zero Waste" entails preventing waste, using resources more effectively, minimizing waste generation by reviewing the causes of waste generation, and, in the case of destruction, collecting the waste separately at its source and ensuring its recycling.
Consumption will inevitably rise as the world's population and living standards rise. This will put more strain on our natural resources and upset the global eco-system because we don't have enough of them to meet the growing demand. Given this circumstance, it is even clearer how important it is to use natural resources efficiently. Due to this, efforts to implement zero waste have proliferated recently on a global scale at the individual, institutional, and municipal levels.

Advantages of Zero Waste
❖ Increased performance due to a clean environment,
❖ Reducing costs by preventing waste,
❖ Ensuring the reduction of environmental risks,
❖ As it contributes to developing environmental protection awareness within the organization, employees become "sensitive consumers."
ensuring that one has the feeling of
❖ Ensuring that the institution has the title of "Environmentally Friendly" in national and international markets, thus
increasing its prestige.
By recycling 1 ton of waste paper
Cutting down of 17 trees is prevented,
177 kg of greenhouse gases are prevented,
4100 kWh energy savings are achieved
2.5 m3 of waste storage space is saved.
Thanks to the Waste Management System implemented at Bartın University between 2018 and 2023;
❖ 14,576.70 Kilograms of Greenhouse Gas Emission was Prevented,
❖ 1,172.67 Trees were Saved from Being Cut down,
❖ 675.47 Barrels of Oil Was Prevented from Being Used as Energy,
❖524,350.85 Kwh Energy Consumption Prevented.
As a result of all these benefits, especially the prevention of Oil Use and Energy Consumption.
Thanks to this, a financial benefit of approximately 2,730,474.98 TL was provided.

Dear Students;
❖ Recycling means savings (in labor, raw materials, and energy).
❖ Save paper, save trees, and save the world.
❖ Do not send waste to the trash; recycle it.
❖Don't see everything as garbage... Recycle!
❖Do not refuse recycling; do not oppose the world.
❖Be on the side of recycling, not on the side of pollution.
❖Don't forget to separate waste and support recycling.
❖The best legacy is created with a clean environment and recycling.
