“Lung Cancer Awareness Training” Seminar Organized


Bartın University Faculty of Health Sciences, Provincial Health Directorate Health Services Presidency Public Health Services Cancer Unit, Addiction Control Office and Yeşilay Counseling Center (YEDAM) jointly organized the “Lung Cancer Awareness Training” seminar on November 15, 2024.

The event was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hilal UYSAL, Head of the Nursing Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences and member of the BARÜ Addiction Control Office. Expert speakers in their fields informed the participants about lung cancer and smoking addiction. The speakers and topics covered in the seminar were as follows: Assist. Prof. Sibel ALTINTAŞ (BARÜ Faculty of Health Sciences, Nursing Department): Made a comprehensive presentation on the causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment methods of lung cancer; Res. Asst. Dr. Necmiye ÇÖMLEKÇİ (BARÜ Faculty of Health Sciences, Nursing Department): Emphasized the importance of lifestyle changes in cancer prevention; Assist. Member Gamze UYKUCU ARMUTCUOĞLU (Member of BARÜ Addiction Control Office and BARÜ Faculty of Letters, Department of Psychology): Addressed the psycho-social aspects of cigarette addiction and explained the importance of social awareness; Social Service Specialist Kadriye BULUT (YEDAM): Introduced methods for coping with cigarette addiction and YEDAM's addiction consultancy services; School Nurse Mahir Can GÖKÇE (Bartın Provincial Directorate of National Education): Shared the results of research on the harms of cigarettes and presented an educational video.

The event aimed to increase lung cancer awareness by providing both theoretical and practical information to the participants. In addition, information was provided on cigarette addiction and the fight against this addiction in the seminar, and the importance of a healthy life was emphasized. At the end of the seminar, it was stated that such meaningful events will continue and thanks were conveyed to all institutions and speakers who contributed to the organization. At the end of the seminar, certificates of appreciation were presented to the speakers for their contributions.

  • Çaycuma Şehit Aydın Berber Anatolian High School Students were informed about our Faculty at the Faculty visit.

  • The Fourth First Aid Training organized at the First Aid Training and Instructor Education Center has been successfully completed.

  • A Booth Event Was Held in Collaboration with Our Faculty and Bartın Public Health Center Education Unit as Part of the April 1-7 National Cancer Week.

  • “Hand Hygiene Training” Conducted in Collaboration with the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Health Services Vocational School

  • Our University's Vice Rector and our Faculty Dean, Prof. Dr. Sevim ÇELİK, served as the Chief Evaluator within the scope of the 10th Productivity Project Awards organized by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey.

  • “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Health Care System and Nursing; Opportunities, Threats and Ethical Dilemmas Event” Online Seminar was held at the Faculty of Health Sciences.

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlknur Dolu Appointed as Cultural Safety Officer within the Scope of the International COST Action

  • First Place Oral Presentation Award to Our Faculty Member Dr. Duygu ÖZER from the Department of Nursing

  • Bartın High School Students were informed about our Faculty
