With the contributions of the Bartın University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Psychiatric Nursing, an awareness event on technology addiction was organized within the scope of Green Crescent Week, March 1-7. In the program, which saw high participation from faculty students, the effects of the digital age on the individual were discussed in a multi-dimensional way. The event addressed the important advantages offered by technology in the fields of education, communication, and access to information; however, it was emphasized that uncontrolled and unconscious use can increase the risk of addiction, especially among young people. In this context, the neurocognitive effects on the dopamine-based reward system, impulse control, self-regulation skills, and decision-making processes were discussed. It was stated that increased screen time, frequency of social media use, online games, and the need to constantly stay connected can have negative consequences on academic performance, sleep patterns, attention span, and interpersonal relationships. In addition, attention was drawn to the relationship between anxiety, depressive symptoms, loneliness, and problematic internet use. The event also included presentations on preventative approaches such as developing healthy digital usage habits, consciously limiting screen time, digital detox practices, and alternative coping strategies. In this context, it was reiterated that establishing a healthy relationship with technology is a critical element for individual well-being and professional development.
