Clinical Orientation for a Safe Start Successfully Held

The program titled “A Safe Start to the Clinical Environment: Fundamental Principles in the Hospital for Students”, organized by the Faculty of Health Sciences at Bartın University within the scope of the 2025–2026 Academic Year, was held on February 16, 2026, at the Ağdacı Conference Hall. The event was organized to support Midwifery and Nursing students in making a safe and informed start to their clinical practice process.

During the opening of the event, emphasis was placed on the importance of safe behaviors in clinical settings, professional adaptation, and infection control in terms of both patient safety and student safety.

In the first session of the program, Gülşah Engin, Training Nurse at Bartın State Hospital, delivered a presentation titled “Safe Behaviors in the Hospital Environment and the Student Adaptation Process.” The presentation addressed professional attitudes and behaviors required at the first step into the clinical setting, as well as the fundamental principles of the student adaptation process.

In the second session, Mualla Alaçam, Infection Control Nurse at Bartın State Hospital, presented on “Prevention of Infections in the Clinical Environment, Hand Hygiene, and Personal Protective Equipment.” The session covered topics such as breaking the chain of infection, the importance of hand hygiene, and the proper use of personal protective equipment in detail.

At the end of the program, certificates of appreciation were presented to the speakers by the Vice Deans of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Aylin Kurt and Hanifi Dülger.

The event, which received strong participation from students, concluded with a question-and-answer session and a group photo.
