As part of Nursing Week celebrated between May 12–18, a “Nursing Week Event” was held at our faculty.
On May 12, 2025, the Department of Nursing organized a “May 12 International Nurses Day” event as part of the Nursing Week activities. The event, held with high participation, aimed to highlight the importance of nursing in healthcare and to raise awareness of the nursing profession.
The program began with a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, followed by an opening speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Sevim Çelik. In her speech, Prof. Dr. Çelik emphasized the critical role of nursing in the healthcare system and its contributions to public health. After the opening, the Head of the Department of Nursing, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hilal Uysal, gave a speech on the 2025 theme announced by the International Council of Nurses (ICN): “Investing in Nursing Strengthens Economies.”
Several experts contributed to the program with their presentations.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Banu Terzi, a faculty member from Akdeniz University Faculty of Health Sciences, presented on “Building a Healthier Future: Comprehensive Solutions for Nurses’ Well-being,” discussing how improving nurses' working conditions and well-being can positively impact public health.
Specialist Saliha Koç Aslan, Director of Nursing Services at Acıbadem Healthcare Group, delivered a presentation titled “The Economic Value of Nursing Services,” focusing on the economic aspects of nursing care.
Specialist Nurse Mediha Didem Koçoğlu Ağca, Head of the Quality Management Unit at Bartın State Hospital under the Bartın Provincial Health Directorate, gave a presentation titled “Time and Resource Efficiency Through Digital Nursing,” in which she discussed the impact of digitalization on nursing practices and innovations in the field.
Following the conference, a short video presentation was shown, featuring photos of Nursing Department students taken throughout the 2024–2025 academic year. A Nursing Week raffle was also held, and prizes were awarded to the winning students.
This meaningful event, organized by the Department of Nursing, once again emphasized the importance of the nursing profession and helped strengthen the bond among students, academics, and nurses. The event concluded with a Q&A session and commemorative photographs taken to mark the occasion.
